Acoustic
blues under containment!
The confinement caused by the pandemic of early 2020 has allowed me to focus intensively and without interference on the one thing I know how to do approximately right: playing and recording music. This collection of acoustic Blues and Folk songs is one of the results (I also recorded a Jimi Hendrix tribute and an Electric Blues album). By coincidence, the release of these recordings also corresponds to a particular moment when the community of people who are at the origin of the music that has made my heart vibrate all my life, rises up massively against the injustice done to them following the umpteenth racist crime perpetrated by the American institutional forces on the person of George Floyd. My feeling on this subject was perfectly expressed by Matt Schofield, a wonderful English Blues guitarist and singer, in these words: "Every single
one of my heroes is either a black artist, or an artist directly influenced
by the music born of slavery and segregation in the southern United
States; Blues, Jazz, Rock n Roll, Soul, Funk. These are some of the
greatest cultural gifts ever given to the world and cherished in all
corners of the world while providing a soundtrack to all of our lives.
And yet despite all that, the very communities who gave us all this
joy, born of pain, continue to struggle, live in fear and be treated
as second class citizens with a lesser value placed on their lives (...)
I will continue to do my very best to celebrate and honour the culture
that has enriched and guided my life with every note of Blues I play." |
